About Lots of Lovely Art Portrait Party Art Box
There are few things as fantastic as the human face! In this art box we will look at three different ways of creating portraits: at paint and how artists like Sandra Silberzweig and Modigliani use its different mediums to capture the essence of their sitter; at sculpture and how artists such as Chris Ofili and Picasso create portraits in 3D; and at collage, and how artists like Hannah Hoch use this particular technique to depict people and their multi-faceted faces.
There are few things as fantastic as the human face, each one unique, yet so easily recognisable on a second viewing. And artists’ portraits have always been more than just a record of a face… The mediums with which portraits have been depicted have also evolved and changed over time, from more traditional techniques such as oil paint, to contemporary ideas of assemblage, sculpture and different collage techniques. This box takes a dive into some of these different aspects and styles of portraiture, with some great portrait artists to inspire us!
