Christmas Pictures for Children by Children
One of the many things we love at Conscious Craft
Recently I was introduced to this amazing book called Christmas Pictures for Children by Children which was first published in 1922. It is a small book containing a collection of colourful drawings and paintings inspired by Christmas and made by a group of young girls aged 14-16, who studied under Professor Cizek in Vienna in the 1920's.
I love the images created by these young girls, and it's hard to believe that some of them were as young as 14. The perspective, composition and design of the drawings is so beautiful, the colours are joyful, bold and bright, yet with an old fashion romantic quality. They represent the ideal Christmas setting, how one would imagine the prefect Christmas.
Cizek was quite an amazing Art Professor, though controversial in his thoughts and teaching methods. He believed that children were born with this amazing creative imagination, and encouraged his students to create art works from story telling and through memory.
Images to put me in a Christmasy mood.
