Hi, I’m Ruth, the play enthusiast behind @ourmanycoloureddays. Myself and my girls wanted to share the joy of Cuboro with you, which is a recent brand to make its way into our playroom.
When we were fortunate enough to win a starter set in a competition, it was love at first sight. Both my girls love building blocks and marble runs and Cuboro is such a clever combination of the two.
Not only is the quality first class, but the pieces are easy for little hands to grasp and manipulate. It’s also incredibly alluring, and fascinating for adults to create with too! Something about the smooth wood grain, shiny marbles and intriguing holes and grooves make you want to get creative.
The beauty of an heirloom toy like this, is that it can create endless marble runs. Each turn of a block makes way for a new masterpiece to be created. Experimenting with how the blocks align and problem-solving as you build means Cuboro isn’t only fun, it’s perfect for child-led learning and gives a real sense of accomplishment as pathways are intricately built.
Discovery play and discovery learning always lead to time well spent, and I can honestly say my girls have spent prolonged periods of time surrounded by blocks and marbles! It’s even wonderful to watch as they work as a team, and develop their positional and instructional language too. The real beauty is seeing the learning happening without them even being aware.
The Kick set was kindly gifted to us and I can say it really does add another dimension, or should I say, it “adds a kick” to our marble runs!
The kick hammer pushes the marble up the hill and you can make a looped ball run which is very satisfying. It’s been a great, child-friendly introduction to big concepts like forces, speed and weight. So overall, aside from just having a total blast, that means Cuboro has helped us cover: fine motor development, Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths, Language Development and Interpersonal Skills…not too bad for some wooden blocks and marbles!!
