Christmas Craft Ideas For Kids - Dried Orange Slice Ornaments
This year, my kids and I are on a mission to create as many Christmas decorations as we can. It's fun and makes Christmas a little more magical and personal. We had an hour spare and some oranges and decided to create some lovely dried orange slices. The smell was divine and it was funny watching the kids sneakily eat the odd slice while I was not looking.
You will need: Large oranges, string or ribbon, cloves.
Pre-heat your oven to its lowest heat - approximately 65 degrees centigrade.
1 - Slice oranges evenly; this can be tricky for kids, but easier with the right tools. We have a great knife by Opinel which makes this process super easy - even my 3 year old had a go.
2- Lay on a baking tray and fill the centre of the oranges with 4 cloves.
3 - Place in oven for 2 hours, then turn slices over and place back in oven for another 2 hours.
4 - Thread with festive sting or ribbon to create a cheerful Christmassy ornament.
5 - Hang on to your Christmas tree or festive branch.
