Long summer walks inspire me and my kids to forage among the abundant greenery and flowers for interesting textures, shapes and colours. Our backpack of treasures gets turned into fun craft projects when we return home.
Add some air drying clay and you have all the ingredients you need to create creepy crawlies. 
Make insect body shapes using air drying clay and start to decorate using your nature finds. Cut leaves in half, use twigs as eyes & legs and stick seeds on to the clay to create interesting textures.
What is so great about this project is that really little ones can get involved as well as older kids. You can make your creepy crawlies very simple or intricate creations.
