Craft Ideas For Kids - Nature Masks
Summer Craft Project for Kids 2 - Nature Masks
Ideal summer holiday craft activity for kids of all ages introducing them to symmetry, texture, shape and colour.
Get your children to gather as many different leaves, twigs, seeds, wild flowers and cones, that they can find in the garden or on a walk. You can also use feathers, shells, pebbles - anything which has an interesting texture, shape and colour.
Then print out the mask template or draw your own on some card and stick on your nature finds.
Encourage older children to create a mask that is symmetrical - discuss proportion, balance & pattern.
Once your mask is finished, attach a long stick using masking tape or brown tape to the back of the mask so that you can hold it up against your face like a Venetian carnival mask.
My son loved the first mask we made - excellent for adventures and hiding in the woods; he called it his camouflage mask.
