Craft Ideas For Kids - Felt & Bead Necklace
Help your child practice threading by making this colourful, creative felt & bead necklace. A fun craft idea for kids, not only does threading develop fine motor skills, it also helps cognitive skills, concentration, counting and can be used to learn the different colours.
It's a great way to use up leftover felt and makes a lovely gift. We have used Grimm's large wooden beads as well as our plant-dyed organic felt sheets - the colours are vivid and natural.
You will need: Large eye embroidery sewing needle, embroidery thread, felt and beads.
1 - Cut your felt into small shapes. You can vary the size. Make them round, square, or create random shapes; get your little one to do the cutting with you.
2- Thread a small bead and tie a knot.
3 - Start threading, you can discuss use of colour, count how many felt shapes to use before adding a bead, or just let your child free play.
4 - Once your child is happy with her creation, tie a knot and make a necklace.
